THE FORGE INSTITUTE INC.

  • The Forge Institute was born from the belief that creativity can light a path forward.

As a newly formed Not-for-Profit Social Enterprise, we are dedicated to providing engaging, relatable and inclusive platforms for creative exploration. What began as a shared dream between a father and daughter has grown into a movement - one that seeks to uplift young people through art, collaboration, and community.

The Forge Institute exists to ignite creative potential in young people through inclusive, artist-led programs that inspire, empower, and connect.

We champion youth expression by providing opportunities to explore the arts in safe, welcoming spaces - wherever they may be - through community-driven workshops, mentorships, and exhibitions.

By nurturing creativity, collaboration, and personal growth, The Forge helps young artists find their voice, build their skills, and forge lasting connections that strengthen both individuals and community in a world where they are facing new and immense challenges constantly.

The Forge is not just a studio or a project - it is a space where young creatives connect and support through art… Where they are seen, heard, and celebrated.

  • The Forge Institute isn’t something built for young people, it’s something being built with them.

From the start, The Forge Institute has been shaped by youth voice, youth leadership, and youth perspective. Teens are not passive participants here; they’re co-designers, contributors, and decision-makers whose lived experience directly informs our programs, culture, and direction.

Here’s what “youth-driven” means in practice:

    Youth in Leadership

We have dedicated youth leadership roles, including our Youth Advisory Delegate and Lead Youth Ambassador, who sit at the decision-making table, help shape policy, and guide organisational choices. Their voices are not symbolic; they influence everything.

    Youth-Led Curriculum Design

Workshops, events, and programs are developed in collaboration with teens through:

    • Forge Forums

    • surveys & feedback forms

    • ambassador planning meetings

    • ongoing peer consultation

If young people don’t want it, it won’t run. If they do want it, it becomes a priority.

    Peer-to-Peer Outreach

Youth Ambassadors help bring other young creatives into the community by sharing real experiences, inviting peers, identifying those who might benefit, and representing The Forge at events, markets, and exhibitions.

Creativity is the tool, but belonging is the outcome, and teens are the ones defining what belonging looks and feels like.

  • Our Ambassador Network is how The Forge stays connected, relevant, and youth-led. It works across three tiers, each harnessing a different part of the community for outreach:

    Youth Ambassadors

Teens aged 13–20 who help shape our workshops, events, and direction. They connect with their peers, share insight into what young creatives actually need, help spread the word, and represent The Forge at youth forums and community events.

    Artist Ambassadors

Practising creatives who bring their lived experience, guidance, and mentorship into the space. They help identify emerging young artists, advise on program design, and support The Forge in building a culture grounded in professional ethics, creativity, and care.

    Education Ambassadors

Teachers, wellbeing staff, and education professionals who act as a bridge between schools and The Forge. They identify students who may thrive in a creative community, help disseminate information, guide curriculum alignment, and contribute to our scholarship pathways.

Together, these three groups form the communication backbone of The Forge, ensuring our programs are shaped by real needs, lived experience, and genuine youth ownership.

  • Phase One: Pop-Ups & Partnerships (Late 2025 - Early 2026)

We’re currently delivering programs across community venues, artist-run spaces, and borrowed studios. This flexible model keeps costs low while we build structure, safety frameworks, and youth membership.

Phase Two: The Forge Studio (Target 2026–2027)

Our next major goal is securing a permanent home. A dedicated youth arts studio in the Dandenong Ranges, a space where teens can:

    • drop in after school

    • work on their art at shared tables

    • connect with mentors

    • join workshops, clubs, and social nights

    • feel grounded, safe, and supported

Phase Three: Expansion & Social Enterprise (2027+)

As a hybrid not-for-profit social enterprise, The Forge will develop income streams that help fund long-term stability, including memberships, exhibitions, print projects, creative services, and speciality programs.

Our goal is to eliminate volatility and build a sustainable model where profits feed directly into more youth programs, more access, and more community support.

Phase Four: The Forge Institute (2030+)

The endgame is simple but ambitious: A permanent creative institution for Hills youth.

    A space that offers:

    • multi-room studios

    • gallery space

    • access to professional equipment

    • ongoing mentorship

    • support networks

    • long-term cultural impact

A space built to last decades, a landmark of belonging, inspiration and community for young creatives.
